About Field & Floral
Hello! My name is Shawna Rude, and I am a sustainable farmer/florist here in Vancouver, Washington. I’ve been creating with flowers for 22 years now, my how the years have flown by! All these years of experience has helped me understand the necessity of sustainable florist practices, so I decided to start Field & Floral Design! Floral culture is notoriously wasteful, so I do what I can to work with nature instead of against it.
Each design is free from:
Floral foam, a common ocean polluter
Dye
Preservatives
Commercial Ribbons (acetate and petroleum)
GMO
Pesticides
We’re going on year 10 of growing flowers, and are continually seeking out new methods in sustainability. Currently I find myself working with dried flowers more, and I’m so excited that the word is getting out that dried can be beautiful too! I find so much joy in sharing my love of flowers, I hope you love them as much as me!
In addition to drying the flowers we grow for wreaths, bouquets, ect., we are also growing flowers that dye! 2025 was a big year of learning new things, and challenging myself and my business to become more well rounded. I’ve found new ways to use the flowers I grow in ways that last, that hold a piece of nature and is uniquely designed.
I now offer kitchen towels, napkins and the softest bandanna’s. They are all 100% organic cotton and dyed naturally with flower, leaves, and kitchen scraps from my own farm and kitchen. Each piece is unique! There’s no harmful chemicals, so they are gentle on sensitive skin, better for the environment, biodegradable, and often antimicrobial as well! It’s pretty cool.
Another new product I decided to jump into learning is candle making with beeswax which I source from a local apiary. This has been SO fun! Omg, the different molds I use to make cute woodland candles fits right in with my “cozy home” aesthetic.
All in all, I’m so excited to share these special designs with you all! I’ll be at the Downtown Vancouver Farmer’s Market most Saturdays this year (except July/August). See you there!
You can often find us at the Vancouver Farmer’s Market on Saturday’s from 10-2pm until the end of 2025! We’ll have wreaths, everlasting bouquets, naturally hand-dyed fabrics and more.
Field & Floral is part of the Floret’s Farmer-Florist Collective. The Collective is a global, publicly-available map and directory of many of the flower farmers and floral designers who have participated in one of our workshops (Floret & Seasonal Bouquet Project) and currently grow flowers and/or offer floral design services. Although separated by many miles, we are all kindred spirits, united in our love of local, seasonal flowers.
