Eco Printed Organic Cotton
We grow many different varieties of flowers on our little farm, but the flowers that are versatile in fun ways will always have my heart. Whether it’s edible, dries well or I can dye fabric with it, they are all my favorites!
In 2025 I took a deep dive into learning how to dye fabrics, with a few different methods. So far my favorite is eco printing!
Eco print (botanical printing), is a natural technique where leaves and flowers transfer their shapes and colors to the fabric through steam.
Each piece I make is a one of a kind print from nature, with different patterns and designs. Some I dye the fabric first in a “dirty pot” then eco print for a deeper, richer color all over.
Flowers (and more!) that I use:
Coreopsis
Marigolds
Cosmos
Pincushions
Lobelia
Indigo
Leaves such as maple/oak/birch/rose/blackberry
heuchera
yarrow foliage
Onion skins
Pomegranate peel
Avocado skin and pit…
Benefits of natural dying:
Naturally dyed fabric is free from harmful chemicals
Biodegradable
Non toxic, safer for sensitive skin
Reduces Pollution
Renewable raw materials
You may choose the size of the piece, but the colors/pattern will be chosen by yours truly. If you’d like more than one in order to have a “set”, then you’re welcome to request that they are similar to each other. Or you can embrace them all! Another option is to find me at the Downtown Vancouver Farmer’s Market starting in February. Come find me and you can choose in person what you’d like!
