Mother's Day Flower Crown Workshop

Cost: $115

Flower crowns have always been near and dear to my heart. I wish I could walk around all day wearing flowers in my hair!

Let’s enjoy our womanhood, whatever that may look like to you!

In the words of one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Aurora:

The sea waves are my evening gown
And the sun on my head is my crown
I made this queendom on my own
And all the mountains are my thron
e…

You have a home in my queendom

You have a home in my queendom

You have a place in my queendom

You have a home

Being a woman is complex and beautiful, let’s bring out our inner queens! Bring your Mom, your friend, someone that shares your feminine spirit, all are welcome.

  • In order for this to stand the test of time, we’ll be playing with dried flowers that we grew on the farm. There will be different techniques offered so you can make one that is true to you.

  • All supplies will be provided.

  • We’ll have delicious wine and a charcuterie board to enjoy from Niche Wine Bar.

  • We’ll set up an outdoor space for a photo op! Feel free to wear something that will go with your crown (weather appropriate, or just bring layers).

Summer Equinox/Flower Pressing Workshop with Vancuterie

Summer Equinox/Flower Pressing Workshop with Vancuterie

Cost: $300

There are three dates to choose from::

Saturday, June 22, 11am-1pm

Saturday, August 17, 11am-1pm

Saturday, September 22, 6pm-8pm

We’ve been sitting on pins and needles anticipating this collaboration that has been in the

back of our minds for months!

Daphne, of Vancuterie, will be teaching us the ancient skill of flower pressing and I will be

offering my knowledge of flower harvesting, keeping in mind which flowers will work best (I’m

learning right along side you!). We’ll use the flowers that we harvest to press in Daphne’s

handmade flower presses. Flower pressing is gaining in popularity, and I know a lot of you have

been curious about it, she has a lot of knowledge to share and can answer all of your questions.

You will enjoy a finely curated workshop with lots of love and attention to making your

experience one to remember. This class could be the beginning of a life long love of flower

pressing. There are countless creative ways to use flowers that have been pressed (I’m thinking of

all the gifts that could be made using the pressed flowers!).

Please continue reading for more information written by Daphne:

Please join us for a unique and elegant experience that blends the beauty of a local

flower farm and the ancient art of flower pressing. No previous experience necessary or artistic

skills required. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with other flower lovers and delight in wonder and

beauty of the garden and interact with flowers in a way you have never done before.

This will be an afternoon of magic and creativity. This fusion is unlike any other

workshop that has been offered locally. You will begin your afternoon walking the flower paths

with Shawna as she talks about the flowers and her farm. You will have time to walk the farm

individually, soaking in all the beauty from the fresh flowers, and thinking about what flowers you

will want to press. Once your flowers have been picked, you will return to a beautiful table adorned

with vases of flowers, custom made flower presses, and custom appetizers, perfect for a special

day.

Next, you will learn about the process of flower pressing using traditional Japanese

pressing techniques. Daphne will discuss the best plants to work with, show you how to prep

flowers for the press, how to deconstruct a flower, tips and tricks of flower pressing, and a

short demonstration on reconstruction of petals. You will spend the remainder of the workshop

pressing a composition of flowers of your choice. This is the only flower pressing workshop

offered on the west coast.

The workshop date has been set to align with the summer solstice. One of the ways you

can connect with the solstice is to decorate with summer flowers, attend a gathering, and set

an intention for the summer season. They say that when you harness the energy of the solstice

sun, you open yourself to creativity and positivity. The solstice is a time for renewal, rebirth,

and self-love. We will end this workshop with oracle reading, for those interested. Oracle

readings can be used as a tool for self-reflection and personal insight. This type of mystical

reading provides a sense of bigger energy and what is going on in our physical and spiritual

realms. We hope that you will stay and enjoy this special way to end our solstice workshop.

What you get in this workshop! And, you get to take home A LOT!

  • A custom 12” x 24” flower press. This is 3x bigger than any press available on the

  • market. Each press is hand crafted for each participant.

  • Special flower pressing tweezers

  • Specialized absorbent pressing paper

5 pieces of cardboard for layering (this will you give 6 layers to press flowers)

  • Flowers for pressing. You will be picking these flowers from the F&F Farm

  • Vase to take extra flowers home

  • Small frame to display your pressed flowers, once petals have been pressed

  • If you have a flower that you would like to experiment pressing, feel free to bring it.

  • Crafted appetizers for the solstice, adult beverages and mocktails. Lavender is the theme!

  • Time for mingling

  • Oracle reading

Background Of Vancuterie

Vancuterie is the only flower pressing studio in Washington. Our specialty is bridal

bouquet preservation. As a botanical artist, I take flowers and capture a moment in time. I love

seeing flow and movement amongst the flowers, creating structure by adding layers and depth,

in a two-dimensional format. Each petal is filled with mystery and is ubiquitous simultaneously.

I love to hear the story behind the flowers and what meaning they have for my clients. Each

bouquet I press is crafted to honor the intention of the occasion.

My flower creations are inspired by 25-years of growing, arranging, pressing, and

photographing flowers. My business is a labor of love and it is an ever-blossoming passion. My

studio is open to all flower lovers. This space is growing and evolving. At the center is a desire

to create community through connections, memorable events, and cultivation of the earth

through plant growth and cultivation. My work is a collaboration of flower souls working

towards a simple goal of sustainability and unity. Enjoy living life lovingly pressing flowers along

the way! My love language is flowers!

Spring Equinox Soil Blocking Workshop

11:00 AM11:00

Spring Equinox Soil Blocking Workshop

Cost: $65

The Spring Equinox represents a time of renewal, fertility, and rebirth. In agricultural societies, the spring equinox marks the start of the planting season, when crops are sown and farmers begin preparing for the coming season of growth.

We start almost all of our starts using soil blockers, they are wonderful! Grow your own flowers to enjoy all summer. Bring your own seeds that you would like to grow or you can choose from what we’ll have on hand. Flower options we’ll most likely have are - Calendula, Cosmos, Amaranth, Bachelor Buttons, Zinnias and more.

The small soil blocker makes one set of twenty 3/4” blocks.

  • Easy to use and makes an indention for seed sowing

  • Eliminates transplant shock

  • High rate of germination

  • Earlier blooming and fruiting

  • Environmentally friendly

  • Space efficient

  • We use this size blocker 95% of the time in starting flowers, herbs, and vegetable seeds

In this workshop we will show you how to use the amazing soil blocker. We will be using a 20 cell soil blocker to start seeds you can then take home and nurture until it is time to transplant them. Only small seeds will work with this size, so if you want to bring larger seeds like peas, I will have a larger soil blocker you are welcome to use but please bring your own larger tray (no holes).

What is provided:

  • Various flower seeds to choose from.

  • Seed starting soil.

  • The use of our soil blocks. This is a way to test it out to see if it’s for you! Then you can buy your own when you’re ready. Ask any questions you have!

  • A small tray to put the soil blocks in.

  • Up to 40 soil blocks can be made to take home, that’s a lot of flowers!

  • Instructions on how to continue nurturing them at home

  • Tea and a light snack included.

Optional Spring Equinox Meditation!

Wattle Tree Place will be hosting a mediation prior to the soil blocking workshop, starting at 9:30am. Join us in welcoming the spring with a morning mediation outside as we clear our minds to create space for setting springtime intentions. Through this community ritual everyone will get the chance to set intentions into the flower seeds you’ve sown and nurture in your own garden. WTP will be taking donations for this beautiful service, thank you!

Large Floral Installation Workshop

Large Floral Installation Workshop

Cost: $125

Ever wonder how florists make large installations without floral foam? How do we figure out what mechanics to use? Are there good flowers to use? Flowers that shouldn’t be used? How do we make sure flowers have a water source? Or maybe you just want to help create something glorious!!

Let’s get creative and use different mechanics to make a large floral…well….art piece! We’ll chat first about how this all works and you’ll be set loose to put it into action with flowers grown right on the farm.

There will be the use of a ladder to get to the high places, but if heights are not your jam there’s no pressure! We get to collaborate together as a team from all different backgrounds, how exciting! We’ll be designing on the farm’s lean-to, it’s going to be epic my friends.

I’ve chosen an evening class with the hope that the weather will be warm but not too hot, and we can get some beautiful sunset photos! We’ll need a minimum of 5 people for this class to run, if we don’t make it to that # then you’ll receive an email well in advance and you’ll be refunded.

Things to know:

*Light refreshments included.

*Keep in touch with the weather so you can wear appropriate clothing (sturdy shoes too!), and bring a water bottle!

*I recommend 12y/o and up for this fun class.

*You’ll each get to take down the section of the install that you made and take it home!

*Class purchases are non-refundable (unless we need to cancel it). However if you find you can't make it, please by all means give your spot to a friend!

You’ll receive an emailed reminder as we near the date.

Everlasting Flower Crown Workshop (For Pride Month!)

Everlasting Flower Crown Workshop (For Pride Month!)

Join us at the beautiful Kindred Homestead Supply shop in downtown Vancouver where we’ll make fun and colorful flower crowns!

We’ll be using all dried flowers (grown and dried by us!) and gluing them onto either a ribbon or head band that you bring or you can use ribbon I will bring. I’ll have a rainbow of flower colors to choose from! This can be for Pride month and/or just for fun. We love our LGBTQ Community, you’re all encouraged and welcome to come.

Things to note:

  • If you bring your own ribbon/head band, it will need to be 1/2”-1” wide.

  • This glue is sticky! If you’re paying for your kid to join in the fun and make their own, it can get messy fast, so I recommend 10y/o and older for this class.

  • I REALLY hope you wear it all day with no inhibitions, just saying!

I had SO much fun making the test flower crown, they are a breeze to make and I felt like a flower fairy, sprinkling a little joy everywhere I went. I wore it everywhere I went that day!

P.S., the picture of my daughter, Juniper, is freaking amazing. I couldn’t help but add it in!

(Sold Out) Mother's Day Floral Design Workshop

Cost: $65

Join us at the F&F Farm for a laid back time for your Mom or someone who fits that role in your life that you’d like to have quality time with. If you are out of state but want to gift them with someone special this is a fun and unique option! But in all honesty, this can be something for anyone!

In this workshop you’ll learn how to design your own hand tied bouquet and how to wrap it the way we do here at the farm. This is a great skill to learn! If you want to grow your own cutting garden, you’ll have the skills to make a beautiful bouquet and wrap it for a loved one. These easily transfer to a vase as well!

We’ll have wine and a little bit of snacks to keep you wanting to hang around a while. This is a laid back class, no experience with floral design necessary, zero pressure! I’ll offer tidbits of knowledge but let you really let loose and enjoy the moment. Let’s not take ourselves seriously for a sec, eh?

This class is more geared toward adults (thus the wine, hehe!). That said, 10 y/o kids and up are welcome.

Autumnal Everlasting Wreath Making Workshop

Autumnal Everlasting Wreath Making Workshop

You ask, you receive! A LOT of you have requested a workshop where I can teach you how to make your own sustainable/compostable wreath, so let’s do it!

In this class we’ll make an everlasting autumnal wreath using dried flowers (grown by me!) using a wreath form made from vines, twine and a glass of wine or two. Once the flowers are in place it’ll most likely be about 18” across. You’ll have lots of dried flowers to choose from so you can truly make it a unique design! Since we’ll be using dried flowers, be aware that they won’t last as long outside on your front door (this wet PNW weather doesn’t help!), mostly likely for 2 + months. However, inside they’ll last forever!

I’ll have a couple snacks to munch on too, so let’s take our time and make something beautiful for your covered front door or in your home (even better, it’ll last longer).

When it’s getting close to workshop day, you’ll receive an email with more information. In this class you’ll be using a lot of finger dexterity, so young children might have a hard time with it, maybe even some adults! I recommend over 12 years old.

AUTUMN TABLE GARLAND WORKSHOP

There are only 10 spots available for this event! It's that time of year when we start thinking about what our plans are for the holidays! I know that for me I'm decorating as much as my family will allow, and then some! Why not? We all need a little joy and creativity in our lives right now.

On November 20th from 2-4 pm, we'll teach you how to make your own autumn garland for your table (two feet long) using dried flowers that we grew right here at the farm and compostable mechanics. Garlands are so fun because once you know how to make them, you won't want to stop at just your table!

In addition, we'll have fun playing around with what I have available to make our very own tablescape to enjoy while munching on snacks and wine!

You'll get to take your creation home with you, and if you love something we use for the tablescape chances are you'll be able to purchase and take that home as well (ie. locally made beeswax candles!).

We'll be mostly inside my little studio at the farm with masks on while we create, but we'll open the garage door during snack time in the end so we can spread out and take our masks off.
